Because making your own soil and compost mixtures seems like it save you alot if you really got into growing. I see your pretty into it which is a good thing i am just getting started finding it kind of cool and fascinating. Been on the cooking side of things now transitioning on to the growing side. After all chefs can cook but the best ones can grow from scratch and cook… well maybe not exactly true but still cool to learn this skill…and its a low cost hobby to.

Any thoughts on adding biochar to the soil?
I have been looking for a side by side comparison for say Zinnias and Petunias.

Thanks ‘CaliKim’. Just watched your helpful video clip as wanted to know I was doing the right thing in preparing my garden soil for a first attempt at growing veggies. I should have done this ages ago! It has taken a coronavirus crisis to stay at home and now truly get on with those tasks one has dreamt of doing with time on one’s side! Thank you.

curious do you think making your own compost and soil mixtures yields as good a quality as store bought composts and soils? Like interms of size and quality of your plants/fruits/vegs that you grow.

Haven’t planted in the backyard planters for a really long time. We recently had everything from the planters removed so I want to start a garden. How can I tell if the soil is good to grow in? Prior to the cleaning the planters were filled with weeds and grass. A lot of which was dead.

    Thank you for you help.
