I am in Zone 9 and I can tell you that it depends on location of where you live concerning the watering you mention. And also where you put your plants (in your yard) full sun verses partial sun, etc… They do not always need water. I water mine every other evening. They receive only the morning sun about 6 hours other wise in my zone they would die in full sun. The best way to grow herbs (my own opinion) is to plant them in pots. I plant rosemary, chives all sorts, and sage in the ground. The other more delicate herbs I plant in pots.
