I live in zone 10 and I completely understand his mentality of "if you see it you just have to have it." If I go to my hardware store, I could easily spend $100 in 5mins on just fruit / vegetable plants. I stress-bought 4 banana plants last week.

Leonard cuts are awesome! My favorite for intricate tightly branched ornamental maples.

  10. dev bachu on April 3, 2021 at 11:45 pm

Did tou say what you grow them in the soil

  11. Lee Lee on April 3, 2021 at 11:47 pm

You’re dead right about them tasting different when grown at home. I got my first fruit today and I was shocked by how sweet it was because all the ones I had tasted were bland. I was just growing them because I liked the texture.

The flesh of that Redish/Purple fruit is far better tasting than the white flesh of the most common dragon fruit. We do use the white flesh in smoothies as a slight thickener because its taste is so mild it won’t over bear the other fruit flavors in the smoothie. But, I don’t eat them other than that.

  26. Gustavo Muro Marchani on April 4, 2021 at 12:09 am

I had a dragon fruit that produced flowers for 2 years in a row, first year no fruit second year in waiting. I think it needs cross pollination.

I just got a cutting from my neighbor. If that one flowers, would that work with the other one?

  27. Sunnyket on April 4, 2021 at 12:13 am

As the tree grows, it becomes very heavy, so its pole should be tied with a wire to support the wire side wall.

How does he walk through dragon fruit alley and have his arms brush against the stems? Whenever I try to tie my dragonfruit stems to a beam, it’s so painful because of the thorns. I wear gloves and it still goes through sometimes!
