Korean HoMi Gardening Tool

Hi, I’m Andy and welcome to my channel FORGE WRIGHT.

This video is a request video posted for John Switzer from Black Bear Forge I contacted John and asked if he would produce a video of himself forging a HoMi and he has replied asking for a video link of this tool. So here it is John, and thank you for taking the time to check out the video and considering making a video of how it should be forged.

    G’day Andy I’m Nath & I’m just starting out as a Blacksmith here in Tassie too. I live in North Tasmania in Elizabeth Town.I’ think some 20×20 mm square Bar or even 12 mm and try to form a Blade on one end and then draw out & taper the handle. Use horn of the anvil to form up the curve or maybe a swage block or the vice even if you have one. Have a go mate nothing to lose.

    ..Hopefully John can work this in Andy. It would make an interesting build. i saw a guy here in the States on a TV show a few years back and they posted it on Youtube. He uses 1075 steel for his line of garden tools, i’ll leave the link. i learned a heap from it…

    Looks cool Andy, I think you’d have to start off with some large stock so as to get some material for the blade digging part.
