***Change the water daily or every other day to prevent bacteria growth. You can also plant the scraps directly in well draining soil, just make sure to keep it moist.

In this video, I show ten vegetable and herb scraps that you can regrow for leafy greens, seeds or root crop grown from potato pieces. Thanks for watching! Stay safe and well.

Hi! this issue really useful, specially the tip on the onion! I do have a question though, if I put the carrot in water would only get a carrot top instead of the roots? (I heard someone said that one time but idk if its true)

I have a question about the onion. It grows green bits at the top and at the bottom you will have roots. If you plant this, what will this become? Separate small bulbs of union under the soil? How does 1 union grow into bulbs? Can’t wrap my head around it

Stupid question, but your green onion before you put it in soil it was pretty long. When it’s at that stage can I just cut it and eat it, or does it need to continue to grow?

  48. Gerry Clough on August 8, 2021 at 10:39 pm

So glad you said about the onions not producing big bulbs, otherwise I’d have thought it was another misleading clickbait video.
I’ve had spring onions grow from supermarket bases for over 2 years.
I’ve never bothered collecting seeds as many of the supermarket vegs are hybrids.
I have to admit I’ve never tried to grow on the celery base. As I use stem and leaves in cooking that’s a great tip. Cheers! 👍
