Looks fantastic but that much wood costs a small fortune now a days. I’d love to build one like it but I’m gonna have to go with a mound type for now.

  4. Dia Patten on August 15, 2021 at 10:04 pm

OMG love it. Any updates on how it went?

This is awesome. I have been planning to convert and older 80′ x 22′ garden for a while. Been getting inspiration with many ideas, and what you did captures pretty much all of it. Haven’t seen the tomato trellis vid yet but have the space in between to do that and of course I’ll be seeing how you did it. Thanks so much for sharing! Love the wood idea to fill the beds. I have PLENTY of that to get rid off. Question… I do want to have stone/pebble floor. Would you do lay rock first, or install this and then fill? My guess is that later as it’s a waste of stone but I’m pretty newbie so figured I’d ask. πŸ™‚

Price of wood now May 2021 is 400% markup from July 2020. I like your bed. Disabled that would be workable for me to grow / harvest!

  11. Plectocomia on August 15, 2021 at 10:15 pm

Beautiful job! Will build something similar when lumber prices are reasonable again. I have an abundance of deer that I will need to keep out.

FYI, pressure-treated lumber is frowned upon for gardens you are going to eat from.

  23. Tim T on August 15, 2021 at 10:29 pm

Looks great πŸ‘ .I like the cut in areas so you can step into the garden space to work/harvest without killing your back. Good thinking.

  30. Greg C on August 15, 2021 at 10:36 pm

  43. DJ McNamer on August 15, 2021 at 10:51 pm

Please tell me the soil is not coming in contact with Pressure treated lumber! Green treated lumber has a number of soil leaching chemicals in it.

  44. Brian Price on August 15, 2021 at 10:53 pm

In 2021 all that wood would equal the cost of four houses.

  45. Haiting on August 15, 2021 at 10:54 pm

Good job!! Really like how the whole family works together!

Can you please tell me how deep did you dig the ground before you laid down the gravel? Thanks!

  46. D Zolz on August 15, 2021 at 10:54 pm

How do you know how much area to have for a family of 5? Is there a formula?…

  47. Brad Taylor on August 15, 2021 at 10:57 pm

Step one. Buy property with completely level ground and zero clay or rock for digging post holes.

  48. Cindy on August 15, 2021 at 11:00 pm
