I have watched Stephen Colbert from The Daily Show to The Colbert Report to LSSC, this is the most natural fun I’ve seen happen. They bounce off each other; Alan Alda is a real entertainer like Stephen.

Love Alan Alda! I watch Mash reruns whenever I catch an episode. To this day, not many series could top that show.

  20. Girl in a Tree on August 20, 2021 at 10:08 pm

I have 2 squirrels, and pooping does not often slow them down. Even climbing/hanging upside down they’ll poop, often on themselves or each other. Real smort squols.

Just want to know how many out there actually did a fact check in that squirrels poop while walking on hind legs. Thumbs up for a true fact. I honestly enjoy Stephens show, each and every day, and have for many years. Best regards to all.

  29. TheRogueStatesman on August 20, 2021 at 10:17 pm

    my god… Alda hasn’t missed a BEAT… if i’m that sharp when I turn 50 I’ll take that as a win…

  30. Rob Albert on August 20, 2021 at 10:18 pm

    Legend.

  31. Jane Kuck on August 20, 2021 at 10:19 pm

Oh boy. He’s wonderful. Both of them. Alda was in Glass House and played a prison inmate. Albeit, a high status inmate.

  32. CelestialAnger on August 20, 2021 at 10:21 pm

This is arguably the most delightful interview I have ever witnessed on a late night show.

  33. marie sia on August 20, 2021 at 10:22 pm

    Oh man! I can’t believe Alan’s 85!

  34. Joan Shavit on August 20, 2021 at 10:23 pm

Alan Alda never ceases to amaze me

Alan Alda is a national treasure.

His name is almost an anagram of Lala Land 🤔

  38. Larry Campbell on August 20, 2021 at 10:27 pm

a little fumble by stephen i’m afraid. you’re the interviewer not the interviewee. i wanted to hear more from alan

  39. A Z on August 20, 2021 at 10:29 pm

Of course I fell in love with him as an actor in MASH, but he was extraordinary in The West Wing, as well. He got to voice some of the counterpoints to the usual perspective on that show. I thought he presented something we never seem to see anymore – a conservative with compassion. I wish the GOP would look at his character as a potential way out of this pit they have dug their way into.

  40. Renshi RadhaKrishna on August 20, 2021 at 10:35 pm

Just saw Alan in Wanderlust on hbo. He’s a great actor

  41. Pedro Noa on August 20, 2021 at 10:37 pm

Can we get Alan Alda and bill hader together, I’d love to see his reaction to haders impression of him.

  42. Dean William on August 20, 2021 at 10:39 pm

I think Alan Alda and Ed O’neil should do a show together.

  43. Bill Durling on August 20, 2021 at 10:40 pm

It’s such a joy to see Alan Alda after so many years. My only complaint is Stephen didn’t ask him what he thought of Bill Hader’s impression of him. To see Bill meet Alan – now that would be something!!

  44. Corporations8MyBaby on August 20, 2021 at 10:41 pm

I wish he would ask Alan to react to Bill Hader’s impression of him.

  45. Ruth Grover on August 20, 2021 at 10:42 pm

I want Alan Alda and Stephen Colbert as a SHOW daily or weekly

  46. Patricia NoceraBrandy on August 20, 2021 at 10:43 pm

  47. Kenster on August 20, 2021 at 10:44 pm

He has always had those kind friendly eye wrinkles and a fantastic sense of humor!

  48. Cheryl and Tim Widener on August 20, 2021 at 10:44 pm

    1) who else just googled, “Do squirrels poop when they walk”?
And 2) thank you for bringing this dear man to this stage!!! I think I watched every episode of *mash* and basically stopped watching television after the final episode.

  49. Robi Rock on August 20, 2021 at 10:47 pm

National Treasure indeed. Mr. Alda is an International Treasure!

  50. cautionTosser on August 20, 2021 at 10:49 pm

OMG! That made me flash on one of my fav MASH moments when Alda told a joke about a squirrel giving him answers outside the exam room in med school about the number of bones in the hand. Just awesome. And now I will be watching squirrels in a whole new way. 😀
