Thanks for the wise tutorial. I have a question about the slow release water bottle you made that can be used while on vacation. I’m afraid about this method because here in S. California we have a mosquito problem. Is there something that it’s safe for the plant and can be added to the water to repel mosquitoes from forming larvae while ?

Plastic leaches toxic substances. You should be aware of this when growing food around plastic.

Plastics are horrible. They leach chemicals that cause cancer, allergies, hormonal imbalance, etc.

If you don’t cut the bortle itself, but only the cork, then the water will release more slowly.

Remember that the main ingredient in slug poison also kills moss and is fertiliser. It can also be used to weather wood. However, if you make slug poison at home it can be both cheap and more effective than the commercial ones.

Water reservoir doesnโ€™t work. Water will still flow fast. try micro needles or maybe cover hole with something permeable like cotton. Just spitballing.

Love the slow release waterer bottle hack since I have some large bottles I can use in ny 20 gal. grow bags in the summer on my watermelons and pumpkins as they’ll need lots of water. TY Huw. ๐Ÿ‘
