Cedar Garden Bed Characteristics & Why Cedar is Ideal for Raised Garden Beds – Easy Growing Ep #13

Easy Growing Episode #13 – The Characteristics of Cedar and What Makes it an Ideal Wood for Raised Garden Beds

In this episode, Bryan gives you insight into the characteristics of cedar wood and why it is a functionally great wood, over others, to build a raised garden bed from.

For our garden beds, we use 1-3/4″ thick cedar boards giving added durability and strength. Along with its distinguished rich smell, cedar also gives you a natural unique beauty not often found with composite, vinyl, or less tannin rich wood.

GardenInMinutes.com is a family owned home #gardening company passionate about making it easier for you to build and grow a great garden.

It is our mission to make gardening more convenient and accessible to all types of gardeners. We make this happen with a modern approach to a not so modern activity.

We step into your shoes to see what makes sense and how we can make the gardening experience more enjoyable!

To start, we decided early on that everything we sell should be tool-free.
Yes everything!
Not everyone has the know-how or time to saw, measure or screw boards together.

Next we decided to make all of our raised garden beds and raised garden kits modular.
So if you ever want to expand upon your garden, or even just change the layout from a rectangle to a corner, or U shape to an L, you can!

Lastly and most important we want to make the actual gardening part easier.
So we invented The Garden Grid watering system.
The Garden Grid is a garden planting guide and a ground level garden irrigation system, in one.

The planting guide portion gives you equal sized planting areas so you can space your seeds/plants evenly and efficiently.

The garden irrigation portion gives you even ground level watering for all plants and is adjustable from a drip for seedlings, to a full stream for mature plants. Multiples connect together and you control the water flow to each Garden Grid independently!

Best of all, there are no little pieces or tools needed. The Garden Grid arrives either fully assembled or in easy to connect halves!

We’re a family of gardeners working to make gardening better with quality designs and modern convenience.

how come i see lots of people talking about how cedar is NOT rate for ground contact and will rot out in a few years
are you sure this is good to be in contact with dirt and will not rot?
i want to use 4×4 and 5×5 timbers for a raised bed and for framing in a patio they will be lying on top of grass in northeast will they rot out in a few years?
also i plan on a 2.5 foor raised bed maybe evne taller i was thinking of lining the inside with those 4×8 styrofoam sheets from the big box hardware stores and maybe some of that vinyl sheeting they sell for window drafts to protect the inside form being in constant contact with the wet dirt
