Notes for those looking for quick info:
Wood: 2” x 12ft (or 10ft) x 1ft boards
Blocks: Planter wall blocks from home depot
Base floor: No need to dig the ground deeper unless you’re not putting the garden soil on top of other soil, or the dirt your putting the garden on is hard as cement. If it is, dig it up a little just to soften maybe 1” of the top layer for drainage.

Garden Height: 1ft.. hotter climate? Go 2ft

Wood to use: More natural woods, don’t use anything painted or treated with chemicals

Soil: Use any garden soil at home depot lowes etc. Put dirt in box and water it to settle it. Add soil if needed. Let dirt sit one day then water again and plant seeds

Lastly.. use a gopher screen. You can get cheap chicken wire or a mesh wire from Home depot. They sell it in the lumber area, lay that down and put soil over that. You will keep gophers out

You cannot go as high as you want. The weight of the dirt makes everything shift.

    OMG A DOGGIE! <3

  7. John Thompson on September 1, 2021 at 11:01 pm

The planter boxes are the easy part. I can kill anything that I grow and that, before harvest. It’s not nice to brag though.

  8. gagouche gagouche on September 1, 2021 at 11:02 pm

I went looking for these corners at home depot, and they don’t carry them anymore

Which wood to buy? Can you tell type or name which wood to buy?

  10. Ijie Tolentino on September 1, 2021 at 11:02 pm

that thing that’s good about those is the fact that you can just swap out woods if they decompose

  12. Tyler Linares on September 1, 2021 at 11:04 pm

How much soil did you use to fill it? How many bags

  13. Amanda Graham on September 1, 2021 at 11:05 pm

What kind of soil you use?

  14. Jamie Nicole ASMR on September 1, 2021 at 11:08 pm

  15. Tristan’s Mama 💚 on September 1, 2021 at 11:11 pm

You said in the video your boards were about $10 a piece. How did you find those? Can’t find anything that size for less than 25.

  16. Miss Vee on September 1, 2021 at 11:13 pm

Wow GREAT idea!!!! I was getting discouraged at how expensive it can get buying a kit but this is awesome

  17. Miguel Martinez on September 1, 2021 at 11:13 pm

I actually made a fence using these bricks & wood lol

  18. Saketh Kanagala on September 1, 2021 at 11:16 pm

what kind of wood we should use for raised bed? Do I need to apply any coat/primer for water resistance?

  19. Casual Preparedness on September 1, 2021 at 11:21 pm

I built this type raised garden beds the other day. It’s too easy. 💯👍👍😎☀️

  20. Vapin with Jacob on September 1, 2021 at 11:21 pm

Do you have to use the rebar stakes? I was considering leveling the blocks on like paving sand instead.

  21. harisahmed90 on September 1, 2021 at 11:23 pm

What are those wood panels called?

  22. berni oakes on September 1, 2021 at 11:23 pm

Old castle blocks fantastic we got 72 of them

  23. Marian Olivas on September 1, 2021 at 11:24 pm

What are the dimensions of your boards?

  24. mardonoful on September 1, 2021 at 11:24 pm

Thank you so much for this! I use these and love them, but am new to the project. Question: Drainage. My beds are over clay soil. Can the wood sit flush with the soil below? Do you have any issues with drainage?

  25. Lauri Snipes on September 1, 2021 at 11:25 pm

This isn’t as easy as it looks. You have to use a level and a corner angle 📐 thing. It took me hours to get it right.

  26. V Z on September 1, 2021 at 11:26 pm

That is a great!!! Wish people could create/ invent more of this brilliant idea which makes life easier.

  27. Livingthedream on September 1, 2021 at 11:27 pm

Awesome! I was just looking at these today online. What soil mix did you use to fill them?

  28. Skyler Firestone on September 1, 2021 at 11:27 pm

I was wondering if you can skip the wood that is alongside the wall and make these with just 3 wood panels. would that work?

  29. MissedTheKeys on September 1, 2021 at 11:27 pm

Thanks for this! I completed one today for my wife. Gotta get a couple of more bags of soil, though. Quick question. What is that on top of your soil? It looks like mulch of some sort.

  30. steven sawicki on September 1, 2021 at 11:28 pm

I like this video, and will probably head over to Home Depot but those spikes to hold them in place a really pricey for plastic. I’m going to look into some rebar instead for less money. Just an idea on my end.

  33. cgd1125 on September 1, 2021 at 11:32 pm

Did you use Rebar? I’m debating if I need it or not.

  34. Weaveuh on September 1, 2021 at 11:33 pm

How are the beds holding up 4 years on?

  35. YAMADA on September 1, 2021 at 11:33 pm

I wish I could transport long wood planks but I have a sedan

  36. CW4PWR on September 1, 2021 at 11:33 pm

Still $2,98 in May of 2021!

  37. kimberly bahrs on September 1, 2021 at 11:33 pm

    Wow

  38. Dax Castro on September 1, 2021 at 11:34 pm

$64/box? Seems expensive. $10 per board + $6 per corner.

  39. Jayson Colbert on September 1, 2021 at 11:37 pm

What type of wood did u buy for it?

  40. nachospop the 3rd on September 1, 2021 at 11:37 pm

Holy snap this is a gamee changer

  41. ☆♡¤SARAH¤♡☆ on September 1, 2021 at 11:37 pm

Okay now that’s a dream. Thank you.

  42. E S on September 1, 2021 at 11:40 pm

I bought four planter blocks this morning, but now that I see yours, I’m going to get four more and stack them so I have a deeper bed. I’m thinking of putting stakes in those top holes in the blocks to stabilize them and also so I can put toole (netting) around and over the beds to discourage creatures from entering it. Toole is really cheap on ebay: 40 yards long and 54" wide for under $10.

  43. Thomas Ralfenson on September 1, 2021 at 11:41 pm

Nice, nice, very nice. However, you can make it better. Just google Woodglut and learn how to do it easily.

  44. nostromo79 on September 1, 2021 at 11:42 pm

Can someone advise me, please? I live in the Pacific NW and it gets pretty rainy and icy in the winter. How will these blocks do over time with being wet and freezing and thawing? Do you think they would outlive the life of the boards? How many years might one of these beds last on average? Thanks, everybody!

  45. Ken Armstrong on September 1, 2021 at 11:43 pm

    Blocks are still that price…

We went this direction to avoid spending hundreds of bucks buying power tools (drill, daw, etc.), enduring learning curve with the tools… and it’s easier to move should we decide to reconfigure the yard later…
