Syracuse professor grows 40 different fruits on one tree

Sam Van Aken, an art professor at Syracuse University, grafted the tree over nine years into something of biblical proportions. The “Tree of 40 Fruits” contains peaches, plums, nectarines and apricots, all of which are readily edible. Jeff Glor reports.

Planting these trees along the sides or roads, streets, in parks, and in other public places will ensure no one goes hungry.

I love when he’s asked, "How long does it take to graft?" And he has NO idea, so he puts on his serious news face and goes, "2-3 years". Dude, stick grafting can take hold in as little as 2 weeks and bud grafting takes no more than 8 months.

This is very useful of just one tree for all sorts fruits suitable for not big land to grow all this fruit trees. So we can do it in just one tree to make all fruits we can graphs, wow! This is in the Bible so now itโ€™s come out real happen by our experimenting. Genius indeed.

All living things can graft to other living things: hence skin grafts, bone grafts, muscle and nerve grafts, gene grafting, and of course organ transplants, the most extreme form of live grafting. So far, science has failed to produce a brain graft, grafting two different hemispheres from two different people together ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  46. NinjasRevenge on September 2, 2021 at 11:31 pm

I find it anoying that the outcome of using science to save those trees is always seen as a biblical miracle. Not paying attention to the man who spent countless hours and adapting new ways of grafting to make it possible.
