Thank you for this. I just started searching for ways to garden indoors and found you. I was depressed thinking I’m doomed to apartment living and would have to forgo my dreams of homesteading. I’m still a little down because I really can’t homestead in my apartment. I have zero outside space. No chickens or goats for me. However, at least I now see that I can harvest my own herbs. Thank you.

questions – don’t see what’s beneath it? what’s the drip rate and how much pooling? like will this rot a porch?

  6. Nikki Lacroix on September 5, 2021 at 10:45 pm

love it!!!! I’m gunna make one of these at my new house asap!! ♥

  7. Ashley Houston on September 5, 2021 at 10:45 pm

I know I’m late, but gravel contributes to root rot. Just use holes and soil. Mine is growing nicely.

I just pulled out my daughter’s old shoe rack to repurpose it. It’s canvas. I’m just trying to decide how to keep water fro getting everywhere.

What’s nice about using the plastic is if you have a wood wall it’ll protect it from all the water.

  23. Avi on September 5, 2021 at 11:07 pm

It looks great, but would not use plastic. We need to rid the planet of plastics…the idea is great, let’s find an alternative. ♥️

  25. Sandra Crockett on September 5, 2021 at 11:08 pm

Thank-You, well done, and very informative. It gives me a lot of ideas to start with!

  26. Miriam on September 5, 2021 at 11:08 pm

The idea of repurposing the item for a vertical garden – yes. Plastic and gravel at the bottom – no.

  30. Daniel Bacon on September 5, 2021 at 11:13 pm

I can easily see myself making one, and I know just the spot. I’ve never shared something with a hashtag before, but I will certainly try to share it.

  31. Julie N on September 5, 2021 at 11:14 pm

Any extra water (except the bottom 2) will be caught by the lower plants I guess. Better than outdoor garden with the chemtrails.
Step 1 Hang your shoe organizer
Step 2 Small exacto blade cuts in brick pattern
    Step 3 Gravel
    Step 4 Dirt
Step 5 Place plant in & water

how does it drain? I’m guessing the top would drain to the next, then the next, but what about the last slots. Where do they drain? Thanks

  40. A H on September 5, 2021 at 11:28 pm

Super idea but why put all the holes in bag? aren’t all the stone’s at bottom enough for capturing and keeping the water seperate from roots?

  41. Kat Van Hoesel on September 5, 2021 at 11:29 pm

Thanks for video! Especially on the tip on which row to place certain herbs, makes total sense..I’ll probably opt to use a fabric shoeholder but it’s a great concept!! Thank you!!
