USE RED BRICKS INSTEAD OF WOOD! I have gardened like this for years and used the 12 x 5 x 4 " red bricks that can be bought at Lowe’s or HD for the borders. The advantage is that they last FOREVER and do not rot. I will be willing them to my kids. Also, they hold heat from the sun during the day and the heat is transfered to the soil during the night, so you can hoop the beds during the winter and it helps keep it warm. I grow lettuce, etc during the winter like this. ALSO, the bricks make it easier to take a shovel and turn the soil when needed as they are heavy and strong and I can place a foot on them to keep them secure while close against the stone.

Good video but too expensive. Plus I would have to wait a month to get it. Maybe get at home Depot if the wood is reasonable?

You know that covering the grass with soil and compost also kills all the weed and grass as no sunlight can pass through for them to survive

I have a question- these beds are made from wood, doesn’t wood bread down when we fill it with moist soil??

  29. Mr Rayan on September 11, 2021 at 11:42 pm

    It doesn’t last long😅😅😅

  30. HamiltonRb on September 11, 2021 at 11:43 pm

You could have filled the bed up to the top of the bottom board with leaves and just fill the top part with soil for half the price

  31. Claymore77 on September 11, 2021 at 11:44 pm

Man what a waste of potting mix.

  32. spadmavaty seshadri on September 11, 2021 at 11:45 pm

I add a lot of dried leaves to half the height of the bed before spreading the potting mix this helps the soil to maintain the bed height level to some extent and leaves also get mulched soon

The first thought was would the boards bow outward from the weight of the dirt. As you raked in the dirt I can see one board already doing that. I like the ease of assembly but I would prefer to build with heavier lumber. I like your screening, cardboard and compost selections.

I am surprised that you spend the money to do this project, when people give more, but cheaper to buy and they want it all for nothing🙈 ah of course now I realize that you name the company that sells these woods and they sure give you the free product for sponsoring them on YouTube 😂😂😂😂😂
