Thanks a mill for putting this valuable bit of gardening idea together. I own no power tools, never built anything bigger than a model airplane. But, I love the garden. My yard is terraced, so its been a problem where I can grow veggies apart from the perrenials which grow without care. I can build a metal bed as you demonstrated. I can do it.

What about filling it halfway with wood, leaves or other organic material to save on soil?

  4. pablo rooney on October 13, 2021 at 9:20 am

Hi all- so exciting to see my favorite YouTube gardeners together at one place – can anyone advise on how to use these birdies raised bed on a concrete patio. I have a lot of space but it’s all concrete …

  15. Rhea Vaflor on October 13, 2021 at 9:27 am

Thank you for this video! I have 2 Birdies bed boxes waiting to be together and was feeling intimidated by them. You made it look so easy and I love the “get inside the bed and pick it up” maneuver to locate it in your garden… love your videos, Tuck is a cutie and thanks again!

  16. Ellie Stell on October 13, 2021 at 9:29 am

    Love Tuck!

  17. Heather Arrington on October 13, 2021 at 9:31 am

I love you supporting your Australian gardeners but wouldn’t it be cheaper to build a wood raised garden, let it rot, and build another one?

  18. Robin Clark on October 13, 2021 at 9:34 am

So glad to see you have such a nice rapport with my other 2 favorite gardners. I like your enthusiasm and Tuck is the cutest little thing! Thanks for the suggestions and great videos! I can’t wait until these beds are back in stock. 🙂

  28. Tak on October 13, 2021 at 9:39 am

Wanted to buy 4 of the beds but the shipping costs are so high it’s enough to pay for a 5th raised bed. They look really good but the shipping costs…

  29. Salt life s S on October 13, 2021 at 9:41 am

$129.00 for the cheapest one! No freakin way!

I’m here for the homie Tuck.

  35. TheFockinFury on October 13, 2021 at 9:54 am

I just replaced a rotting wooden raised bed with a Vego Garden bed–which if I understand correctly is just Birdies but sold under a different brand in the US

It was a ton of work shoveling all that dirt but it feels great knowing that I’ll probably never have to touch that raised bed again. The 17" depth is also going to be great for my tomatoes.

  36. panko97 Lillywhite on October 13, 2021 at 9:56 am

That’s what I use!! So easy to build. I did it all by myself. It is now planted with garlic for winter in Idaho

  37. Dave on October 13, 2021 at 9:59 am

The only thing I think is the metal sides can get hot..what’s peoples opinions?

  38. dispmonk on October 13, 2021 at 10:01 am

  43. rbbiefah on October 13, 2021 at 10:08 am

Theres nothig wroing wit using pressure treated lumber as long as you line it with plastic .If you know a rooofer who doeds membrane type roofs ( durat last or thermal TPO ) just buiold you PT box and line it with those materials ask him for scape pieces s . The chemicals will never leach into your soil . Lowes and hime deopt also sell "clear plastic carpet guard" which you can also attach to the insidie of a PT bed . PT lumbar prices have not gone up as much a s other wood…

  44. Russell James on October 13, 2021 at 10:09 am

    Is that the Slate Grey?

  49. ΙησούςisGod 1611 on October 13, 2021 at 10:14 am

build a bed out of concrete… you can reinforce it with rebar and it will last more than your life and your children’s gardening life lmao…. that thing is definitely permanent. you can use concrete blocks reinforced with mortar or rebar but you can also just build the wall out of concrete and reinforce it with steel.

what kind of dog is Tuck. Love him
