AQUARIUM HARDSCAPE TUTORIAL FOR BEGINNERS – ROCK AND WOOD DECORATION IN PLANTED TANKS

We believe that the most creative part of the aquarium hobby is playing around with hardscape. Exceptional natural wood and rock arrangement are at the basis of the most successful planted tanks. This is where most beginners will struggle. In this tutorial video, we will present you with our favorite hardscape types, one-by-one. Seiryu stone and spider wood is all I have to choose from in my city. Aqua scaping is not a thing here in Hervey Bay Queensland Australia. I picked up this hobby late last year and love it. I donated a tank with my scape to restaurant and people love it and ask if it’s "real" "where can I buy it"( they thinking it’s plastic and can buy whole tank set up like that)
And I’m umm 😅 you can’t just buy it you have to put it together.
So it just a small 45cmx30x25 tank
With seriyu stone with a hand made bonsai tree from Vietnam off eBay (because I wasn’t happy with the spiderwood) " Java moss on it, and Monte Carlo. Simple but effective, just had red cherry shrimp and neon Terra’s.

For the plastic bottle tank, just pick up driftwood off the harbour and snap in pieces and drop inside. Once tannins are released, incase, prank someone to drink from bottle saying it’s tea

  13. ragnos28 on November 10, 2021 at 11:09 am

Hello. I struggle with scaping my tank, because all the scapes I see for inspiration take like 70% of the fish swiming space (I have an 35 gallons long tank and I keep tiger barbs). Now, my question is do I make the tank pleasing for me or the fish? I have try to use a large branch as decoration, It look good, but one of the tetra scrach his eye and I have abandon that plan. Can I put a link to a video from my channel that showcase my problem? Thank you in advance!

Can granite be used in an aquascape? I’m surrounded by loads of broken granite, someone buried a lot of it in my backyard before I bought the house..

  21. David Perrin on November 10, 2021 at 11:17 am

How would you do a tank with out plants. As some fish like cichlids. Have only rocks

  22. Metallix on November 10, 2021 at 11:17 am

Im more than one year late but thank you for this comprehensive video. For ppl like me that do not have access to a local supplies shop and have to do exclusively with ordering online, one thing that wasnt covered is the weight difference between types of stone. For example how much heavier is frodo stone than dragon/lava rock ? Weight is a factor both on budget and on how much pressure it puts on the glass itself since the volume is pretty much the same.

At the price of “aquarium” wood at my local shop, you have about a million dollars worth in the box in the back!

  28. Squa 81 on November 10, 2021 at 11:23 am

When you live in a region we’re petrified wood stone is a nuisance due to it’s presence in the feilds

That! intro… i will "steal it" jajaaja!

  30. Yorgdridge Blern on November 10, 2021 at 11:26 am

You said wash and rinse the rocks. I’m sure you are aware of this but I think it should be pointed out to the novice aquarist that you should never use any type of soaps or detergents in tanks or anything that will go into them. Once the fish get a taste of the soap they get addicted and sadly , they will jump out of the tank and kill themselves to get it. Some turning to crime or selling their bodies down by the wharf….It’s a real fish market down there…. Wait, I got off track. Don’t use soap is what I’m basically trying to say…….

In the middle of trying to put together a couple tanks while i watched this, i’d sell my soul for the chance to select from your collection. None of the aquarium stores here have 1/10th the selection or quality you guys have. Thanks for the video super cool to see how you’ve been using them. (how long before you can start shipping to canada rofl)

Hi Balazs! Do you have a work point in Italy? If not, are you thinking on it to expand?

  48. cRusty on November 10, 2021 at 11:50 am

Hey guys I have just introduced about 15 lbs of Dark pagoda Stone to my 33 G tank. It is an established tank for over a year. Worried about my parameters since watching this video. I didn’t think 15 lbs was much so I didn’t give it too much thought. Been a week now and I’ve seen a slight increase, have done 1 water change since. Thanks!
