How long would you recommend running a grow light on cuttings? How many hours should I have them on?

  20. L Stevens on November 12, 2021 at 11:52 am

Thank you so much!!! You explained all of this so much better than anyone else in any of the MANY videos I have watched so far. Now I know exactly which lights to pick out for my indoor garden areas.

  21. Preethi S on November 12, 2021 at 11:53 am

Great information! Are the heat mats only for germinating seeds or do they help with young seedlings as well?

  22. Jenna Crider on November 12, 2021 at 11:54 am

I need to grow seedlings for 50 tomato plants. Would you recommend several shop lights for this many?

Brilliant! Love the idea of the milk jugs with sand (idea #3). How long are you pvc pipes?

  25. Luz Gallardo on November 12, 2021 at 11:55 am

Hi! First amf foremost, i love your videos!!! Thank you. Inspirational and so, my kiddos and i decided to grow hot peppers, roma, picklebush and sugar babies indoors and then(hopefully) transplant them into grow bags once its time. But I don’t know if we might have a leggy problem going on. Our seeds gerninated much sooner than I anticipated my diy grow light for our box just arrived. They sprouted 2 days ago. Wish i can send a picture. But do you think they will be okay?

  26. Marko padilla on November 12, 2021 at 11:56 am

18 HOURS OF LIGHT IS TOO MUCH
8 TO 10 HOURS IS ENOUGH

  27. Barb andGirls on November 12, 2021 at 11:56 am

Hello and thank you for the great video! I wonder if you can recommend a specific grow light for houseplants. I can’t trust what I am seeing in online stores because I would like the white (daylight) color light and not yellow-ish. Thank you.

  28. jkanclark on November 12, 2021 at 11:57 am

I would think this would severely dry out the plant but I guess not

  29. Ruchi Badhwar on November 12, 2021 at 11:58 am

The table top grow light link for Amazon pulls nothing

  30. Glenn Tiglao on November 12, 2021 at 11:59 am

Hi Cali Kim. Woulld indoor lights work if I grow lettuce with hydrophonics?

  31. Robin Poupard on November 12, 2021 at 11:59 am

Finally got a chance to watch this! My husband Jerry is the one with the green thumb around here. He’s always starting seeds…all year round!…on our patio. We don’t have a good place in the house, unfortunately. I’ll let him know about this "recipe" for the seed starting mix. He has all the components you use so it should be easy. We’re hoping to start plants in the Community Garden soon.

  32. Kylie Weber on November 12, 2021 at 12:01 pm

I think I will try out the clamp lights and or box clamp light methods 🙂

  33. Andi Elliott on November 12, 2021 at 12:01 pm

Made two "PVC" grow light stands today.

  34. Gedeuch Nixan on November 12, 2021 at 12:03 pm

Sure you can use regular household LED bulbs, hacksaw the plastic diffusor of, put 9- 12x 17W LED bulbs on 2×2 foot and you´re good to go. The light colour and CRI are important leading to how much PAR a light has, but there is absolutly NO difference between white LED´s in a "grow" light and a regular bulb besides the quaility of the LED itself maybe.

  35. Valentina Garattini on November 12, 2021 at 12:04 pm

Hi there, thanks a lot for the very nice light tips. I found a shop LED light. It’s a 3400lm 6400k and I am wondering if that’s too much or the seedlings would do good. Thanks a lot. Greetings from Italy 😊.

  36. Charmaine Muscat on November 12, 2021 at 12:05 pm

You are amazing with information. So detailed and sustainable. Love your channel. I have leabrt so much. Love from Australia. ❤🌻

  37. ariane filiatro on November 12, 2021 at 12:05 pm

you just demysified all the light stuff for me. thanks. I like the way you explain stuff. easy to understand

  38. Al Wood on November 12, 2021 at 12:07 pm

I cant find lumens or kelvin on most adds. Watts are always there though.

  39. Haile Clark on November 12, 2021 at 12:07 pm

Do shop lights need to have between 1500 and 3000 lumens AND 4500-6500 k? I’m having trouble finding shop lights with both. I see some either have the correct lumens or the correct k. Thanks in advance.

  40. Amy LeMoine on November 12, 2021 at 12:08 pm

Hi! The link to the table top lights doesn’t seem to be linking anywhere. Could you repost? I was unable to find them on Amazon… maybe they no longer have them, I realize this is an old post. Thanks!

  41. Tess Forrester on November 12, 2021 at 12:09 pm

Thank you. I came For the light box 5:47

  42. MikeB2112 on November 12, 2021 at 12:13 pm

Thanks CaliKim for a very informative video. This is my first attempt at growing indoors. I’ll be using the longer CFLs for my seedlings and plug them into smart plugs on a schedule. Wish I could automate watering as well but I guess to say I grew them I have to be involved in some capacity. Lol.

  43. Steven White on November 12, 2021 at 12:13 pm

I love all your idea’s keep them coming thanks calikim.

  44. Liah Fox on November 12, 2021 at 12:13 pm

What is more important beyond the thresholds you mentioned. For instance if I see bulbs w/ 2600 lumens with a 5000 kelvin, or should I go with 1600 lumens with 6500 Kelvin?

  45. Chris Bartley on November 12, 2021 at 12:13 pm

I have just watched 6 videos about lights and yours is by far the best and most concise. Love it. Thank you.

  46. Blood Brothers on November 12, 2021 at 12:14 pm

Growing indoors are much slower than outdoors with bright & direct sunlight, right?

  47. Carole Durst on November 12, 2021 at 12:14 pm

I rarely comment on videos but oh my thank you so much for this video! I didn’t know where or how to start seedlings indoors and I absolutely love the cabinet clamp and box light idea. I am beyond excited to start my growing my seeds now.
