After two years of getting back into gardening, I realize that I don’t remember what seems so common and what I used to remember easily. So I just bought a journal to keep better notes. I had used a calendar but always ran out of room. This year (beginning Jan 1) I will make daily notes of what is happening, weather, soil condition, weeds, pests, my trials and experiments, seeds, fertilized dates. So many things that I want to remember. The most frustrating thing is the seedling names and I use a lot of fabric pots and MUST label better. I hope to make permanent plant markers during this winter and no excuses – I must do a better job. Last year I planned to do this and carefully labeled my seed starts but once they sprouted and I was transplanting them, I dropped a huge (carefully labeled) tray of starts upside down on the ground – labels went everywhere, dirt and seedlings upside down. I tried to pick them up carefully so they wouldn’t die but didn’t even know if they were peppers or eggplants. I am sure going to have better labels next spring. Having a journal will be so helpful. Enjoying your videos! Subscribed from Mary’s Nest link. She is a special woman. I look forward to seeing what else you do.
