About Us.
I share our organic homestead, called Byther Farm, with my loving partner, Mr J and our cat, Monty.
We are a fifty-something couple who live on a smallholding in Monmouthshire, Wales. We are going green and creating a gentler, cleaner and more healthy life for our family.
There is a large organic kitchen garden with no dig gardening raised beds and young food forest in which to grown our fruit and vegetables.
I’m currently exploring permaculture farming as a way of life.
We keep hybrid chickens and also have breeding flocks of Jersey Giants and Australorp chickens and Aylesbury ducks.

I had a landlord who was a wool grower in Australia and on his fiftieth birthday his family got him diseases in sheep he claimed it was the worst gift ever as he found himself standing in rage paddock watch for symptoms of different problems rather than waiting for s animal to have a problem and then going to the book it gave him a lot of sleepless nights

  40. Let's Go Ketogenic on November 25, 2021 at 12:57 pm

Awesome video! Great recommendations. There is an Australian book called Backyard Chickens which is a funny look at keeping chickens. It essentially says that we make keeping chooks harder than it needs to be. I was planning my coop until Mr Fox started visiting and standing on my back fence like a cat! I didn’t realize how agile foxes were… I’d assumed they would dig under, not that they could climb over so easily!!

  41. Almost Homestead on November 25, 2021 at 12:57 pm

Nicely done. I think we might pick up a copy of Farmhouse Kitchen. Thanks!
