How to Build a Raised Garden Bed

How to Build a Raised Garden Bed

This video walks you through how we build our raised garden beds, using redwood 2×6″ lumber, 4×4″ corner posts, 3″ decking screws, and optional hardware cloth bottom for gopher-proofing. This video series was originally shot for my @deannacat3 Instagram, hence the 1-minute video segments and portrait mode. More step-by-step written instruction and photos on building raised garden beds can be found at;

    Very well done. I’m going to build my vegetable garden exactly like this at the end of the year.
    Currently waiting on a donor to buy my kidney so I can afford the lumber 😅

    Pressure treated lumber is non-toxic as long as it is produced after 2003. Didn’t know if you knew that or not. And galvanized metal is toxic once it starts to rust or break down.

    Love it. Looks so good. I’ve been using brick because it was easier for me. ( https://youtu.be/15JlCQ5F9ps )
    However I love your look. I imagine wood is likely less expensive. How long does the wood usually last?

    Good for a patio but I will build with bigger dimensions for our veg garden. I built 12 but just one board high.
    What do you put between your raised beds to keep weeds down? Is that stone gravel?

    Beautiful garden. Just confused how the volcanic rock aides in drainage AND water retention. Seems mutually exclusive.

    Great video!!
    How do you build your soil microbial life with the weed block on top of the ground below?
    I have mesh on the bottom of my bed to keep critters out, too! I do wonder about how to build a “living soil” without access to the earth.
    Thanks!!! I so appreciate the information you’re putting out! ✌️🙏
