I just relocated spearmint to the wood line behind my garden last year. I moved them there because they were taking over the bed that they were in. When I was mowing the grass last week I checked on the plants by the wood line and they had grown about ten fold out there. I’ve have enough spearmint to keep Wrigley’s Spearmint Gum in business for about a year! lol

Thanks for the tips on the oregano. I have been watering mine too much. Really interesting in ground and container herbs. The color on the in ground ones is so much richer. I know they spread but I think I will put some in the ground now too! I love having so many varieties of mints and basils on hand.

Do you have to pre grow your herbs in a small container then put them in the window box?

Great tips for growing some herbs. I think its a bit to late to do herbs here. I need to go find some pots for next year! What mix do you use? I was thinking about making my own out of peat, vermiculite, and filtered potting mix (1:1:1 ratio). same stuff i use to plant my seedlings.

Do you grow any of your herbs indoors?  I was trying to grow Rosemary ‘Arp’ indoors and both plants died.  I watered them once every 3 days, and they are in large 10" diameter pots so lots of room for roots to expand.  Also, do you recommend any particular type/brand of soil when transplanting from the store container to a more permanent container?   Thank you.  Rich

I prefer to keep mint in containers , because the grow sideways and soon would spread into to adjacent herbs. Thanks for your information.
