Growing Hydroponic Citrus & Video Updates
Hoocho revisits a few of the systems we’ve built and builds a hydroponic orchard for hydroponic lemons, limes and grapefruit.
Hoochos explores the worlds of Hydroponics, Aquaponics, Permaculture, Homesteading, Fermentation, Technology Vanlife and DIY Builds to look at the world through a larger lens that can incorporate the best of everything into a rich and rewarding lifestyle.
Through self sufficiency we can reduce consumption and increase our hyperlocal household production.

Happy Hydroponicing!
What do you do with all these plants? I’ve started to follow your grow videos and you seem to have so much going on! Is this your full time job? Cheers
I am interested to know why you chose not to implement the air pruning system in the rain gutter grow system.
So much gosh darn space over in Oz…
Loving the results from the gutter system! Thanks for the updates!
Is it ok you don’t install a roof on your hydroponics setup. What if it rains? Thank you.
First time i found your channel man instant subscribe
Thanks Hoocho ,Great to watch Great video
Man I got click baited on the thumbnail🤣
Hey Hoocho, love your channel, can I buy your merch in Australia? Or is it all made in the US?
I know in the past you have used the Manutec hydroponic nutrients, how do you find that compares with the Campbells blue nutrients used here? I am currently using the manutec nutrients as I can buy directly from Manutec here in Adelaide. The NPK is similar in the blue to the Manutec but the T version is very different with much lower nitrogen and huge amounts of potassium. I will be very interested to see how you think that compares with flowering/fruiting plants to the blue or to the Manutec nutrients.
Seasol really good for transplant shock, also got my gutter system up and running after watching your vid. Cheers hoocho
Love the king gizzard in your vids
Ever try any root veg in your systems? About too try some myself
can you show how to grow a citrus tree indoors canada climate 🇨🇦
Have you measured your ground temperature? Is the ground cool enough to bury your water resivor? A lot of work…
How are the citrus trees doing now, mate?
Nice truck
Update please!
Thanks for sharing this great content. Do you have an update on the hydroponic citrus trees?
How big are those citrus plants going to get? You’re gonna need some big pots eh? Great vid!
Any tips on defoliating the tomatoes? Mine are so bushy I can’t see where the fruit is anymore…
probabblya chamber instead of tubing for aeroponic trees would be a better choice,
i”ve been looking into that and trees roots might block the whole tubing system as they will get thick and woody,
to avoid that a chamber would be better to let the root’s spread and the tubing system should drop the water and nutrients from the fartest points from the center of the chamber so the roots would not follow the water source directly, and wont get stuck in the tubing.
what’s the song used during the time lapses?
You could put the pipes under ground to keep them a bit cooler.
Time lapse is amazing
Great videos, thank you very for taking the time to share the Hydroknowledge
What’s the advantages of using perlite instead of vermiculite? Doesn’t vermiculite retain water and nutrients better than perlite?

I’m in South Africa so our temperatures are also high and I’m scared to leave my Hydroponics in the open air because of the heat and also the hail
@hoocho wont those trees at some point get to big for a Hydro system? I tried planting some peppers that got too big for my NFT in the ground and they did not do well at all 🙂
Best gardening channel on YT. Can you do an AMA one day?
Do a video on the hardware for the citrus garden it looks like flat pipe with a round end cap.
I briefly entertained the idea of hydroponically growing fruit trees but ripped up the front lawn instead. I will be interested to see how yours go. I think the pots will be too small to allow the trees to grow fully. So I will be also watching that to see how you go. They are getting a higher more consistent nutrient flow then they would in the ground tho so that might make a difference.
My current project is how to move the strawberries into a dirt bed and out of my flood and drain lol. They have gone nuts in there and with our warm days we have had in Melbourne have run like crazy. But their roots are too big to squeeze into a net cup for the vertical system.
Gotta love Wednesday’s – another Gem from the Hoocho 🙏 Thanks M8
