In my planter there isnt any gap to allow water to escape. Should I drill holes at the bottom ?

I’ve heard that putting gravel at the bottom of your pot to give the plant drainage is considered a myth. Meaning you don’t need to do that, if you use a soil that promotes good drainage. According to this article: http://www.todayshomeowner.com/garden-myth-putting-gravel-in-pots-and-containers/ adding perlite, permatill or organic matter is a better way to increase drainage.
