Planting Seeds From Store Bought Strawberries! Episode 1

Planting Seeds From Store Bought Strawberries! Episode 1

In this video I will be planting strawberry seeds from some store bought strawberries. Instead of trying to scrape the seeds off, I am going to plant thin strips of strawberry skin with the seeds attached. I will be also doing an update on my Alpine Strawberries. Thanks for watching. I have some leftover strawberries and I was looking for how-to videos on growing strawberries from the fruit and today is April 26. Nice coincidence 🙂 I will do as you did.

Need a followup!! I just tried this today! Did you have any results Mrs. Christina?

  10. Mrs B on June 6, 2022 at 9:22 pm

This definitely works! What I do is skin the strawberries put them on a napkin and then on a paper plate, let the strawberries dry for 24 hours or until they get crusty, then pick up the napkin and just rub the strawberries that are stuck to it and the little black seeds will fall all over the plate. 👍

I put some to germinate. One batch had been dried out on a saucer and the others still with red skin. The dried ones have germinated very well.

Earth 🌎 🙋‍♀️ on most every video for planting, I feel like the soil is the most important thing but it’s least talked about I don’t know what kind of soil to use one video I saw a guy use soil it look like it was mostly sand from a beach and then they’re called strawberries ‘ cause you put straw on them but then I don’t know how to use the straw do leave it on there where do I get the straw? lhow much do you need how thick is it supposed to be??how much moisture is in there more about the soil like continent of clay! is my earth is really bad here that’s another reason why I plant 🪴 them in a container. I guess I’ll just get a bag of black soil?

Update! This does work. You can view the entire playlist on growing strawberries from seed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJmTJ44YR54&list=PLOq3ytujg1rcgR1G9owk9A_XopywRuW2V. Also I found the channel and video that I got the idea from in the first place. It’s the Fringe Garden Channel. Here is a link to the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVUxBtgIGGs

I like to blend a good batch of scraps and mix in some compost tea. Pour slowly in rows in the woods. wild life and my kids make years of fun out of it. Last year, a doe fell a fawn in our wild patch. The lil one ate as much as it wanted. It’s also become a box turtle paradise!

  29. patientv on June 6, 2022 at 9:41 pm

Thanks so much for your video series on these strawberries, I’ve seen quite a few videos on growing from seed, but nothing that showed a thorough outline of how to or what to expect.. This is helpful as I have several plants I started and but wasn’t sure what steps to take.
