Allotment Diary Growing Vegetables Growing Salads / Lettuce in a window box : Square foot gardening

Just a quick video of how you can provide enough fresh salad leaves or lettuce from a small window box or pot if you have limited space.
I tried this for the 1st time this year just to get a few early leaves before my lettuce in the allotment were ready and have been amazed at the amount you can harvest from such a small space.
Simply grow in a pot or a window box with minimal thinning of the plants and just pick what you need and the plant grows back giving what seems to be an endless supply so far.
Saves an absolute fortune compared to buying bags of mixed leaves from the supermarket and it’s a lot fresher too.

Wow it’s Dan! That’s two things we have in common! I’m a fellow potter and gardener!

I agree with mhpgardener, love the sifter idea. I have started mixing my own seed packets for salad because for some reason the mixed ones cost a dollar more each, so I just buy the greens I like and get a lot more as well. Enjoy your videos Thanks for your time.

sounds like there`s a bit of water in the beck, down riverside.
Should be bottling it and selling it to the poor old arid South-East.

You can’t beat the taste of fresh lettuce. And its so simple and easy. No reason at all to be buying it from the store. Love the sifter too. What size mesh do you have? Bobby
