How Much Do I Charge for Gutter Cleaning & Fall Cleanup //Landscaping Business tips (Compilation)

How Much Do I Charge for Gutter Cleaning & Fall Cleanup Landscaping Business tips compilation.
I charge a base price of $85 for gutter cleaning and downspouts for a small single story ranch, as long as we’re already on the property. But if it’s a special trip It’s $250. Pretty cool when you can make $1,000-$1,500 revenue in a day.

You are a big help by talking actual dollars. I own /operate a lawn mowing business in suburban Schenectady, NY. In our town they do 2 bulk leaf pickups from the piles of leaves at the side of the road. I one man show about 50 lawns. Using a bagging toro 54” and a backpack blower I can clean up a typical property in about 1 to 2 hours. I work at $60 to $80 per hour depending on the situation and overall season clean up cost for that customer, fall cleanup is a process not a one time event for my regular customers.
Most properties end up paying $200 to $250 for the fall cleanups. $ 225 x 50 = $ 11,250. Not bad for a months work, better than this 62 year old working at Lowes every week. No customers, no business, too much expenses, no profit….no point, be thrifty.

Crazy how you got snow already and we still mowing NC

  7. T Dwayne on June 15, 2022 at 9:58 pm

Sticky position doesnt even do the situation justice. I’ve had to jump off a roof sideways, leaf blower on my back. No I did not fall. I’m a cat. I’ve also had to just throw the leaf blower off the roof straight off my back to stop falling backwards. STICKY AF BROTHA

Also your end rant reminds me of one of my first customers to a "big" $480 clean-up my first year. They lived out of town and were selling the house, I did an overgrown clean up and was so proud of my work. They come into town a couple days after to meet up and (in the middle of fall) the first thing the guy says to me is "Why are there leaves on the ground??" – literally as there were leaves falling from the trees right between our faces while we were talking.
I went from complete pride to crushed within seconds as I started to frantically try to explain how I removed 3 yards of leaves and that there are still leaves falling from the trees and that I had finished the cleanup days before and and and… Shit like that’s rough but it’s what you have to go through to grow as a person and learn how to handle those situations professionally

  11. Mike O on June 15, 2022 at 10:05 pm

I think the customers gave him PTSD. 🤣

  16. Jonny Bravo on June 15, 2022 at 10:14 pm

People want you to do fall cleanups for like 50 bucks, I tell them well, if you pay me that much I won’t have enough to get myself here, pay for gas, pay my employees, pay for Maintanance on my machines, they won’t say a word back, your price $150 is what they will end up paying

  17. Paul James on June 15, 2022 at 10:14 pm

Love the rant! Sounds like it comes straight from the heart… q-tip cleaning!! Psh

  18. Jesse Rousseau on June 15, 2022 at 10:14 pm

Some of my clean ups are upwards of 500 bucks the house lots are 3 acres at least with all oak trees with a blanket of leaves shin deep

You always give us great content (the emotional stuff for me) and while most people won’t read this comment you could if you agree tell them, winter is coming, fencing doesn’t care about seasons, plus your fencing tools can be used for other stuff etc also we have an app in the uk called mybuilder, it’s been awesome help for me, don’t know if you yanks have a similar thing, just trying to pass it forward 😁

  28. Dustin Balkema on June 15, 2022 at 10:23 pm

I have absolutely been there! I did several jobs that were well within my reach and getting overconfident I took out another that was so far out my reach I just had to admit to the guy I was beyond my depth. I have not touched a job with gutters since!
I have since bought a fall arrest kit and proper ropes so I can now tackle those jobs.

  32. TGS Garden maintenance on June 15, 2022 at 10:29 pm

Have you ever used the gutter clearing extension kits for the hand held blowers? My only concern is that I will spend the rest of the day cleaning windows! Unfortunately in the UK 🇬🇧, people expect you remove waste for free, not happening. I charge £10 per 70lte bag, our council dumps charge you a fortune if have a commercial vehicle! You Yanks charge a lot more than we do in the UK but you get appear to get taxed a shitload more than we do! Good luck to you my fellow grafter!

  33. mtn moto adv on June 15, 2022 at 10:30 pm

I’ve only had two customers really say something about my debris haul off prices. I just tell them my price takes into consideration travel time to the landfill, fuel costs, the landfill fee and the labor involved with unloading all the debris- which once I explain all the time and work that goes into hauling it off they understand the price. Most customers just see you load it into your truck/trailer and drive away, and once you’re gone they think it vanishes into thin air.

  49. Devin Jewell on June 15, 2022 at 10:45 pm

Haha honestly dealing with customers like this has been one of the most difficult process of starting a business for me. I have a horrible habit of underbidding and I’d get allot of customers that try and get me to do all this extra work. Or little old ladies that get me to do all this extra garbage for free. It’s only been lately where iv been able to defend myself and stand for my quality of work.
