#11 A greenhouse full of plants has fresh clean air that is full of oxygen… and nitrous oxide! (Laughing gas). It literally does make you feel good. : P

Great video. I miss my old greenhouse and am looking at getting the 10×12 from harbor freight as well. I am thinking two medium sized aquaponics systems with either ornamental or edible fish (Growing lots of greens) along one long wall, a largish in-ground lemon and orange tree growing tall in the middle, and a series of raised beds with bell peppers all along the other wall. Did you know they can live up to 3 years! Just have to keep the frost off of them.

I am betting that 5 years in… the money saved would pay for a new $630 greenhouse a time or two every year. That is just food savings. Not counting the others you just mentioned.

We’ve been wanting a greenhouse for many years, just been too lazy and cheap to build one. Do you still feel the same after 5 years? I was also wondering how you moved your tomatoes back to the greenhouse in the fall to extend the season. Thanks for posting!

  11. Michael McKeavin on July 21, 2022 at 11:54 pm

So how is the glass greenhouse build coming along? My guess is you’ll be getting better temperature control. . .

  12. TheBobelly628 on July 21, 2022 at 11:56 pm

  15. Awakening Enthusiast on July 21, 2022 at 11:57 pm

I’m sorry for all these questions but one more thing what about the summer time? When it gets really hot? Because I live in North Alabama and we get very high temperatures it’s been a hundred degrees with 80% humidity in the last week and I’m afraid that if I have a greenhouse I might end up just providing a nice little oven to cook my plants is there a good way to cool it? Maybe have a inline fan that sucks the hot air out from the top?

We’re buying a house on a 1/2 acre in N. Texas. We want to grow as much as we can of various fruits and veggies. Never done a garden before and don’t know where to start. We want to go greenhouse for sure. Here is our main question, how do we know what size greenhouse to build AND how much of which plants to grow for our use? We’re an active couple.

  27. Miriam on July 22, 2022 at 12:07 am

I use cinnamon on my oats and one could sprinkle on their gluten free toast and unsweetened fruit.

  28. MsLookinup on July 22, 2022 at 12:12 am

I was hemming and hawing about accepting an old greenhouse from a store that is going out of business. I thought I just didn’t have time for it. Now I am getting it, setting it up, and here in SE Wisconsin, I shall lie on a beach chair in January and read a book. Who needs to plant a thing??

  29. Vivianne C. on July 22, 2022 at 12:12 am

You must feel very good about this now with this covid situation. Good job 👏🏼👏🏼

  30. Erlpen2016 on July 22, 2022 at 12:17 am

Saving money on my grocery list? You must be kidding it costs me money to grow anything including anything I grow in the green house….my local “Mexican” market sells 2 pounds of tomatoes for $.99 ….Bosc pears 2 pounds for $.99 etc..etc…you should move to California we live inside a perpetual greenhouse….the temperature never goes below 55 Fahrenheit except on the mountains where it snows, so actually you can go snow boarding in the morning and in the afternoon you can go surfing to the beach….by the way the world will never end on your or my lifetime…trump is a moron and his daddy Putin is also a moron….and finally your enthusiasm is very inspiring now that is worth more than any money…

  42. Awakening Enthusiast on July 22, 2022 at 12:32 am

When you refer to being in 5B how do you find out what area you are in? Because that sure seems like it would help me I’m about to build a greenhouse using a frame from an outdoor canopy it’s a big metal frame that pops out and it has a steel frame that would work great for a starter I’m only in a rental so I need something that I can remove otherwise I would put something more permanent but I am really craving to Garden in a greenhouse for my first time I think that I will learn a lot and I think it will provide a lot more fun for me and I won’t have to stop in the winter
